At the latest when the boys only talk about Fortnite skins or V-Bucks and the girls watch TikTok videos up and down, many parents realize: red alert. Alienation from nature is the diagnosis. In the 2016 "Nature Youth Report", more than half of the pupils surveyed stated that they spend at least three hours a day in front of a screen. The coronavirus pandemic has given screen time a massive boost. During the lockdown, young people spent up to 75% more time playing digital games. This is the conclusion of a study on media use by health insurance provider DAK-Gesundheit. "Computer games offer a wealth of challenges in a largely uncontrolled space. Nature can't keep up with the high stimulus density of these games and seems boring," says Rainer Brämer, initiator of the "Jugendreport Natur".
